Fact, someone hates your favorite movie. Movies are subjective. in an age where everything fits into its nice little cubby hole, thinking outside the box or experimenting
when it comes to film can be a super risky move, but a move I always respect. it shows me and the audience that you don't care about making money, you just wanted
to show us something you thought was neat, Psycho ape is the result of just that, doing what you love and telling a story you want to tell, the way you want to tell it regardless of what that giant machine cranking out "Scream vs Jaws" and "Wrong Turn 34" does.
Addison Binek Does not want your money, he wants your time, From the moment I sat down to watch psycho ape to the very end I was entertained and it was very clear
that this movie was not made with profit in mind. it feels like watching a movie you just spent the summer goofing around making with friends and the comfort that brings really helps the film shine in ways that large profit movies never could. understanding just what the hell your seeing when you watch psycho ape becomes clearer upon watching Tromasterpiece theater, Addison's first step into full-length productions. using a long-forgotten film by Llyod Kaufman Addison sets up a very fun MST3K
homage featuring a sentient popcorn and film reel searching for Troma films Addison has not seen before. running for 2 episodes, the second (poultrygeist) seemingly lost
to sweet lady internet, Tromasterpiece theater showcased the types of films that would inspire the feel of Psycho ape and allow Addison to experiment with effects and story structure. While each Tromasterpiece theater isn't bursting with lore or live segments it is VERY much in line with its MST3K roots, which usually had the same basic structure of a sketch and set up the film, and then the ending sketch. the jokes land well and the characters are likable, it's honestly a shame we likely won't see
more but what we can see is important in the evolution of Addison as a filmmaker and the birth of psycho ape.
Going into the film itself we are given a backstory featuring the psycho ape escaping into the public on the very same night that definitely a teenager and not wearing a
wig at all Nancy Banana is having an ordinary teenage sleepover, fawning over her beloved ape doll and attempting to coerce her friends into playing Congo the board
game. All of that comes to a tragic end when the psycho ape, overhearing Nancy being teased for her sort of creepy love of apes, tears up the party killing nancys friends
and leaving her unconscious and afraid.
Years later the ape is still on the loose however he has been in hiding as an everyday suburban ape, the perfect disguise. Nancy has grown but has not forgotten her ape encounter nor lost her love of apes. After seeing a news report about himself the psycho ape comes out of hiding and begins a rampage all while heading towards Nancy.
Can an ape and a 100% not wearing a wig Woman truly fall in love, or will the equally evil, possibly immortal, Dr. Zoomis succeed in capturing or destroying the psycho ape?
Will the Weird sisters get their picture with a psycho ape? Does nancy totally fuck an ape? the answer to all these questions and more can be found in psycho ape!
While the flick definitely is not for everyone it is a great watch for those who can enjoy a corny good time. the charm of the film comes from the fact that anything that looks
bad looks that way on purpose, the effects are cheesy, the ape costume shows its shoes constantly, one scene literally just stops while the crew breaks down over an argument about the best Pixar film, but ALL of that is what makes this movie a must-see in my books. it's hilarious to see the banana deaths, the wig that doesn't quite fit nancy, the characters who die multiple times or die only to be in a scene later unscathed, the dialogue, the constant hidden references to amazing ape flicks, the psycho ape poster that appears all over, the rediculous speeches given by Zoomis. this whole thing SHOULD be garbage, by all rights it should suck, but everything that should work against it somehow works for it and makes this a truly special film reminiscent of the "Fuck it, lets film it" days when people thought "Death bed" was a fantastic idea and I couldn't be happier. in a time where EVERYTHING is either super serious, a remake, or a social commentary I have never been happier to just turn my brain off and watch a girl go go dance while an ape stabs people with a banana.
is psycho ape the greatest story ever told? fuck no, even the opening credits make that very clear, but is it a great time that will have you throwing this flick on to giggle at with a beer or a bong? 100%, and at the end of the day that's what a good film does.
Next time we will be taking a more in-depth look at Addison's youtube channel as well as Tromasterpiece theater including the now missing episode: "Poultreygeist".
we will NOT be going into why it is lost but we WILL be doing a full review of all the live sketches as well as the film itself so please join me again. if you enjoyed this article

Anyway, did not mean to come off as condescending but if you are serious about learning how to write an article it might be worth reading a book on basic grammar. A spell checker could be helpful as well.
lol this should probably have been edited before being posted. No offense. 😂
